Jim's obituary was published in the "Gwinnett Daily Post" (Lawrenceville, Georgia) on September 21, 2010,5 and in the "Winston-Salem Journal" (Winston-Salem, North Carolina) on September 21-22, 2010:6

HINSHAW WINSTON-SALEM - Jim Hinshaw, 84, of Winston-Salem, went to be with his Lord on September 19, 2010 at Baptist Hospital.  The son of Julius and Mina Hinshaw, Jim was a loving husband, devoted brother, generous father, grandfather, uncle and friend.  Jim spent most of his life in the Atlanta area where he was a highly respected leader.  He was a talented and accomplished businessman, entrepreneur, and mentor.  He was passionate about his beloved Georgia Bulldogs and Atlanta Braves.  He was a dedicated member of Rotary International and held many leadership positions including District Governor receiving the Distinguished Service Award and Meritorious Service Award.  He served as chairman of the Board of Directors of the Gwinett Hospital System as well as numerous other civic organizations.  During World War II, he served honorably as an ensign in the U.S Navy.  Mr. Hinshaw is survived by his wife of 41 years, Faye Hinshaw of the home; his brother, Carl Hinshaw; his sister, Edith Hinshaw Alldred of Winston-Salem; son Jim Hinshaw, Jr and wife Laurie of Buford, GA; daughter Susan Diane Hinshaw and husband Ken from Monticello, GA, three grandchildren and one great grandchild.  He was preceded in death by his sister, grace Lee Hinshaw Brown [sic].  He leaves a family secure in the Promise of Eternal Life through Christ, our Savior.  The Funeral Services will be held at Salem Funeral Home Chapel, 2:00 p.m., Thursday, September 23.  The family will receive friends at Salem Funeral Home at 12:30 to 2:00, prior to the service.  There will be a private interment following the chapel service.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to: First Moravian Church, 4950 Hough Howell Rd., Stone Mountain, GA 30087 or Gwinnett Children's Shelter, P.O Box 527, Buford, G.A 30515.  Any Online Condolences may be made to Salemfh.com.
