Reg Hinshaw Jr. CLOVER, S.C. - Clifford Reginald Hinshaw, Jr., 88, of Clover, SC died Tuesday, May 27, 2008, at Gaston Memorial Hospital, Gastonia, NC.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 30, 2008, at Clover Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. Douglass Key officiating.    Interment will be in Woodside Cemetery.
Mr. Hinshaw was born January 25, 1920, in Battleboro, NC to the late Clifford Reginald and Lucile Walton Hinshaw.    Reg graduated from High Point High School in 1936, and from High Point University in 1940.    He received his Masters degree in History from Duke University in 1941 and in 1951 graduated from Gupton Jones College of Mortuary Science.    After college he became a pilot and flight instructor with the Civilian Pilot Training Program and continued flying and instructing in the U.S. Army Air Corp.    As a flight instructor at Presbyterian College, Clinton, SC he met his wife of 64 years, Beth Ford Hinshaw.    After his service in the Army he taught history at High Point College for two years.    In 1949 they moved to Clover and joined M. L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home and the Ford Chevrolet Company where he worked until retirement.    He was a licensed funeral director and embalmer at M. L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home and served as the Executive Secretary for the S C State Board of Funeral Service from 1960-1985.    He was an Elder at the Clover Presbyterian Church and a member of the Clover Lions Club.    He loved history and was an avid golfer.
He is preceded in death by a sister, Garnett Hinshaw May.
Survivors are his wife, Beth Ford Hinshaw of Clover, SC; daughter, Lucy Hinshaw Cathey & husband Robert of Anderson, SC; grandchildren, Mary Walton Cathey of Waltham, MA, Beth Paul & husband Andy of Greenville, SC, and Ellen Martin & husband Timmy of Anderson, SC; great grandchildren, Evelyn Birdie Paul and Sarah Ford Martin; sister-in-law & brother-in-law, Barbara & Jack Quinn of Clover, SC and two nieces and one nephew.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday night at M. L. Ford & Sons Funeral Home, Clover, SC.    Memorials may be made to the Clover Presbyterian Church, 202 Kings Mountain Street, Clover, SC 29710 or to the Thornwell Home for Children, P.O. CLOVER, S.C. - Beth Ford Hinshaw, 90, of Clover, S.C. and Courtland Terrace, Gastonia, died Jan. 10, 2012. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Friday at Clover Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. Douglass Key officiating.
Interment will be in Woodside Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. in the church atrium.
Mrs. Hinshaw was born Nov. 24, 1921, in Clover, S.C., to the late Oscar Edmund and Elvie Jackson Ford.
She was the widow of Clifford Reginald Hinshaw, Jr. and was a 1942 graduate of Winthrop College, Rock Hill, SC.    Beth taught in the Clinton, SC and Clover, SC school districts.    She was a lifelong member of Clover Presbyterian Church and former president of the Women of the Church.    She also was a member of the Clover Womans Club, having served as President.    Growing up in Clover, she was an avid horse woman.    Some of her many interests were reading, family genealogy, and local history.    She was always kind, patient, and gracious, and a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Survivors are her daughter Lucy Hinshaw Cathey & husband Robert of Anderson, SC; sister Barbara F. Quinn & husband Jack of Clover, SC; grand-children Mary Walton Cathey of Waltham, MA, Beth Paul & husband Andy of Greenville, SC, and Ellen Martin & husband Timmy of Anderson, SC; great grandchildren Evelyn Birdie Paul, Sarah Ford Martin, Marshall Hinshaw Paul and Meghan Addison Martin; and 5 nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express their sincere thanks and appreciation for the highly skilled, kind and compassionate care given to Beth during her 12 year stay at Courtland Terrace.
