Mary E. Bennett April 5, 1912 - May 1, 2009
CINCINNATI, Ohio -- Mary E. (Hinshaw) Bennett, 97, Cincinnati, died May 1, 2009, at Maple Knoll-Breeze Manor in Cincinnati, Ohio, after an extended illness.
She was born April 5, 1912 in Lapel and was a 1930 graduate of Lapel High School. She also graduated from Indiana University in 1934 with a bachelor of arts degree in physiology. She was a registered nurse and taught surgical nursing at Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. She also was a member of Phi Mu Sorority at I.U., a 75+ year member of the Lapel Eastern Star, AARP and the First United Methodist Church.
She is survived by her sons, Dr. Jerry Allan (wife, Patricia) Bennett of Cincinnati and George Arthur (wife, Angelicia) Bennett of Plano, Ill.; sister-in-law, Ruth Hinshaw of Mount Pulaski, Ill.; granddaughter, Stephanie A. (husband, Brian) DeGrado of Chicago, Ill.; several nieces, nephews; and best friend, Annabelle Dickey Hunt of Anderson.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hazel (Dunham) and Claude J. Hinshaw; husband, Lowell D. Bennett; and brothers, Gordon Hinshaw and Herman Hinshaw.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel, with Dr. Jerry Bennett and George Bennett officiating. Burial will follow in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday at Robert D. Loose Funeral Homes and Crematory, South Chapel, Anderson.
Per Mary's request, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the . [sic]
