Born Feb 9 1812, Auburn, Worcester County, Massachusetts.1,2,3,4,5,7,8,9,10  

At the age of 14 Daniel left his parents' farm and learned the trade of scythe making, which he followed about eight or ten years.  When 24 years old he moved to New York state, engaging in blacksmithing.9  

He married Diantha Livermore, Jul 23 1834, Leicester, Worcester County, Massachusetts.5,11,12  Diantha, daughter of Daniel Livermore & Betsey Parker, was born Mar 30 1813, Leicester, Worcester County, Massachusetts.1,2,3,4,5,10,12  

At the time of his marriage, Daniel lived in Pine Plain, New York.1  

In 1849 Daniel abandoned the blacksmith trade and started a line of stages between Eaton and Utica.9

In 1856 Daniel moved to Galesburg, Knox County, Illinois,9,13 opening a hotel on West Street (later 132 West Street).4,9  The hotel was originally built in 1855 by a George Hinckley and called the "Transient House", then purchased by a J. Milton Smith, who sold it in 1856 to Daniel Henshaw who ran the hotel for fourteen years as the "Henshaw House".  In 1871 the hotel was converted to dwelling houses.14,15

During the Civil War Daniel turned to farming.9

Daniel Henshaw died 1901.5
