FAIRHOPE -- A memorial service for Walter Hedden will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Fairhope Christian Church. The Rev. Bev Birdzell will officiate and burial will follow in Colony Cemetery in Fairhope. Hedden, 87, died Nov. 30, 2001. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Ithaca, N.Y. He graduated from Alfred University with a degree in ceramic engineering and co-authored 14 patents for research. The Fairhope native is survived by his wife, Carol Taber Hedden of Ithaca, N.Y.; two sons, Gary Hedden of Franklin, Tenn., and Chet Hedden of Tucson, Ariz.; two stepdaughters, Beverly Maynard of Dryden, N.Y., and Barbara Welch of King Ferry, N.Y.; 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. Arrangements are by Fairhope Funeral Home and Crematory.
