On May 2 1864, James G. Henshaw, age 19, enlisted as a private in Company F, 141st Ohio Infantry Regiment.9,10 On the same day, James' brothers Edward and Eli also joined the very same Company.9 James was discharged on Sep 3 1864.11
He married Ann Davis12 [Anne Davis13, Annie Davis6,14], Nov 10 186412, Gallia County, Ohio12.
Ann died Aug 22 1865, buried Hulbert Cemetery, Gallia County, Ohio.14
He then married Armienie A. White4,12,15,16 [Armieniea White6, Armenia White6,16, Amenia White13, Amena White12], Jul 22 18664,12,15,16, Perry Township, Gallia County, Ohio4,12,15,16. Armienie, daughter of Alfred Amalphus White & Mary Carson, was born Mar 14 1837, near Cora, Gallia County, Ohio.4,6,16,17
Their wedding announcement, published in the "Gallipolis Journal" on Aug 9 1866, stated:18
James G. Henshaw, Jr. to Miss Armenia White at the residence of the bride's mother in Perry Twp. by Amos Ripley, esq on 22, July 1866".

James G. Henshaw died May 21 1882, Gallia County, Ohio; age 37 years, 8 months, 20 days.4,6,17,20
James' obituary was published in the "Gallipolis Journal" (Gallipolis, Ohio) on May 25, 1882 (page 3, column 3).20
In the 1890 census Union Veterans and Widows Census, Armenia Henshaw was listed as widow of James Henshaw, private, Company F, 141st Ohio Infantry.11
Armienie died Feb 1 1900, buried Hulbert Cemetery, Gallipolis, Green Township, Gallia County, Ohio.4,6,17
James is buried in Hulbert Cemetery between his two wives, Ann and Armenia.21 Funds for the placement of the gravestone were provided in the will of his father, James Henshaw, made Oct 24 1889.22
