Cavalry (by consolidation);6 mustered out Jan 18 18643 (Jul 19 1865 at Cloud's Mills, Virginia);6 discharged Jul 19 1865.3,6 His military file recorded him as 5'10" tall, hazel eyes, brown hair, dark complexion.6

Jerome was a member of the "Onondaga Tribe" (lodge) of the "Improved Order of Red Men", America's first fraternal organization, established in 1833 by whites for fraternal purposes and for appreciation of Indians and their heritage.4
Jerome Joshua Henshaw died Mar 5 1899, buried lot 49, section 3, Griffins Mills Cemetery, Aurora, Erie County, New York.4
