On Aug 21 1861, at Fairhaven, New York, Edgar B. Henshaw, age 21 [sic], enlisted as a Private in Company F, 2nd New York Cavalry;11,12,13 re-enlisted Dec 21 1863;13 promoted to full Corporal;12 transfered to Company D on Aug 29 1864;13 mustered out Jul 20 1865 in New York, New York.12 Edgar was in the battles at Bull Run and Fredericksburg, and was twice wounded.6 Reported missing in action at Bull Run, Aug 29 1862.13 His military file recorded him as 5'4" tall, brown eyes, brown hair.13
He married Cyrina Barber1 [Serena Barber2, Rachel C. Barber3], Jun 21 18701. Cyrina was born Jan - 1850, New York.2,3,4,9,10

Edgar Bernice Henshaw died Mar 1 1913, buried Little Valley, Cattaraugus County, New York.1
Edgar's funeral was reported in the "Olean Evening Times" (Olean, New York) on Wednesday, March 5, 191315 (see scan below).
On Mar 24 1913 Cyrena R. Henshaw applied for a pension as widow of Edgar B. Henshaw, veteran of Companies D and F, 2nd New York Cavalry.14
