In the name of God Amen. I John Henshaw of the County of Madison and State of Virginia Being in bad heath but of sound and disposing mind and memory and not knowing at what I may depart this life I hereby make my last will and testament in manner and form following that is to say ----
Item 1st. I give and bequeath to my wife Mary B. Henshaw all my personal and perishable property of every kind whatsoever to do as she may please with to her and to her heirs, forever. The names of the Negroes I give to my wife are Charity, Menia (Asp) and her future increase if any, Robin and Ralph.
Item 2nd. I give to my wife Mary B. Henshaw all the profits ensueing from my estate, of every kind whatsoever, to do as she pleases with, to her and her heirs forever. --
Item 3rd. I give and bequeath the whole of my landed estate, to my wife Mary B. Henshaw, for and during her remained life only to take the profits owing from the conditions [sp] of the same to her own use to do as she may please with. --
Item 4th. at the death of my wife Mary B. Henshaw I wish the whole of my landed estate to be equally divided between Frances E. Wetherall, daughter of George and Emma Wetherall of the State of Ohio, and Robert B. Henshaw son of my Brother James N. Henshaw, to them and their heirs forever.
Item 5th. A small portion of my land I swapped or exchanged with Daniel Field in his life time, for a small corner of his land, for the purpose of straightening a line between us, and it is my will that the line shall remain as it now exists between Aaron H. Carpenter who is now the owner of the land formerly owned by said Field.
Item 6th. It is my will that Frances E. Wetherall shall remain with and have a home with my wife, so long as she the said Frances E. Wetherall may remain single.
Lastly I constitute and appoint my wife Mary B. Henshaw Executrix of this my last will and testament and it is my earnest wish and request that the Court will suffer to take my estate in hand without requiring her to give security. All former wills or forms of wills at any time by me heretofore made I hereby revoke. Given under my hand and seal this 23rd day of Dec. Eighteen hundred and forty three.John Henshaw (seal)

Henshaw Executrix therein named, who under Oath thereto, and entered into bond according to law, a certificate for obtaining a probate thereof as due form is granted her.
