He married Bertie Hazel Ryder, Feb 4 1945, Laird Community Church, Ontario, California.¹  Bertie, daughter of Burton + Hazel Ryder, was born Aug 29 1925, Ontario, California.¹  

One of the ushers at Roger's wedding was a college roommate of Roger's brother Don, H.R. "Bob" Haldeman, who later became Chief of Staff to President Nixon (and a famous Watergate-era political figure).  

Roger served two years in the U.S. Navy, being stationed in Tacloban, Leyte, in the Philippines.  After discharge, Roger worked for many years as a tool and die maker at the Barson Machine Shop in Ontario, California.  About 1961 they moved to Spokane, Washington, and later to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, where he continued in the tool & die profession.  In 1973 Roger and Bertie moved to Fort St. John, British Columbia, Canada, where they are still (1998) residing.¹
