Harry was raised on the ancestral homestead, "Spring Hill", in Berkeley County, West Virginia.3  

He married Ida Jim Damron, Jun 15 1940.1,2  Ida, daughter of James Damron, was born Oct 30 1918.4,6  

In 1998 Harry and Ida were living in Huntington, West Virginia.4  

Ida died Mar 11 1998, Cabell Huntington Hospital, Huntington, Cabell County, West Virginia; buried Ridgelawn Memorial Park Cemetery.4,7

HUNTINGTON - Ida Jim Henshaw, 79, of Huntington, formerly of Cleveland, died March 11, 1998, in Cabell Huntington Hospital.  

She attended St. Catherine's School, Richmond, Va., and Marshall University, was superintendent of the kindergarten at First Presbyterian Church, former president of the Junior League and a member of the Assembly Club and Ivy Club.  In Cleveland, she was superintendent of the kindergarten at Fairmount Presbyterian Church, vice president of the Women's Committee of the Cleveland Orchestra, president of the Women's Committee of the Lake Erie Opera, President of the Junior League Garden Club and a member of the Fork and Fiddle Club and the Noon Day Club.  

Surviving: husband, H. Preston Henshaw Jr.; son, Harry Preston Henshaw III of Charleston; daughter, Sally Saunders Henshaw of Huntington; brother, Joseph Damron of Winchester, Va.; sister, Patricia Jay of Alexandria, Va.; two grandchildren.  

Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, Huntington, with the Rev. Ernest T. Thompson officiating.  Burial will be in Ridgelawn Memorial Park.  Friends may call from 7 to 8 p.m. Friday at Klingel-Carpenter Mortuary, Huntington.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to First Presbyterian Church, Huntington, or to the Burn Unit at Cabell Huntington Hospital.

Former railroad exec H. Preston Henshaw dies

H. Preston Henshaw Jr., a former senior vice president of the Chesapeake & Ohio and several other railway companies, died Thursday at his Huntington home.  He was 82.  

Henshaw had also served as senior vice president of the Baltimore & Ohio Railway and the Western Maryland Railway.  

After retiring from the railways in 1978, he became president of CSX Minerals and chairman of the New River Company.  

Henshaw also sat on a number of boards, serving as a director of Banc One West Virginia, Cabell Huntington Hospital and Guyan Machinery.  He was also a past chairman of the United Way.  

He was a graduate of Washington and Lee University and a Navy veteran of World War II.  He was director of the Monongahela and the NF&G railways and of Bituminous Coal Research, and president and director of Western Pocahontas Properties, New Gauley Coal Corp. and Littleton Fuel Co., Huntington.  

He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, Huntington, Guyan Golf and Country Club and the Gypsy Club.  

Surviving: son, Harry P. Henshaw III of Charleston; daughter, Sally Saunders Henshaw of Huntington; grandchildren, Elizabeth Campbell Henshaw of Charleston, John Preston McHaffie of Huntington.  

Service will be 1 p.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church, Huntington, with the Rev. Roland P. Perdue and the Rev. William A. dePrater officiating.  Burial will be in Ridgelawn Memorial Park.  Friends may call from 5 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Klingel-Carpenter Mortuary, Huntington. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Washington and Lee University, Lexington, Va.
