Born Aug 5 1841, Friendsville, Blount County, Tennessee.1,2  

During the Civil War, Richard served as a seargant in Company D, 3rd Tennessee Infantry.1,3,4  

Richard was shown in the 1870 census, living with his uncle Zimri and aunts Asenath and Serena in Jasper County, Iowa.5  

He married Ann E. Lowery6 [Anna Lowrey2], Feb 15 18726, Henry County, Indiana6.  Ann was born Apr 15 1837.2  

Richard lived in Reasoner, Iowa.2  

The following article was published in the "Kellogg Enterprise" (Kellogg, Iowa) on December 21, 1888:7

Mr. and Mrs. R.T. Hinshaw of Reasnor, and Mr. and Mrs. Ezra Hinshaw of Rushville, Sundayed in town.

In 1891, in Iowa, Anna E. Hinshaw applied for a pension as wife of Richard T. Hinshaw, invalid, veteran of Company D, 3rd Tennessee Infantry.4  

Richard Thompson Hinshaw died Jun 13 1912, Jasper County, Iowa.1,2  

On Jul 25 1912, in Iowa, Anna E. Hinshaw again applied for a pension as widow of Richard T. Hinshaw, veteran.4  

Ann died Nov 16 1916, buried Newton, Jasper County, Iowa.2
