On Mar 25 1913 Susie's brother, Joseph Clarence Little, was shot and killed at the Paint Rock, Alabama train depot, killed by a member of the family.  Susie then helped in raising his children, William Harvey and Delphia Hasseltine "Hassie" Little.15  

On Sep 12 1918 John Henry Hinshaw, age 41, registered for the World War I draft in Montgomery, Montgomery County, Alabama.  He declared he was born Jan 26 1877, and was then residing in Montgomery where he was a farm [..unclear..] employed by the State of Alabama.  He declared his nearest relative was Arkie [unclear] Knight of Paint Rock, Alabama.  He was recorded as having blue eyes, light hair.19  

John and Susie divorced,20 apparently sometime before Jan 17 1920.3
