Born Jun - 1879^1,5,6,7,8 [Jun 26 1878^9,10, Jun 26 1877², May - 1874¹¹], Jackson County, Alabama^1,5,6,7,8.  

He married Mary Susan Little^3,12,13,14 [Susie Little^1,12], Jan 14 1900^3,12,13,14, Jackson County, Alabama^3,12,13,14.  (Marriage license dated Jan 12 1900; J.H. Hinshaw shown age 21, Susie Little was age 19).⁸  Mary, daughter of Jonas H. Little & Mary Caroline "Mollie" Walker^{2,4,11,14,15,16,17}, was born Jan 20 1877^{2,4,11,14,15,16,17} [about 1881^1,8, about 1887³], Jackson County, Alabama^{2,4,11,14,15,16,17}.  

John was shown in the 1900 census (Jun 16 1900), living with his remarried mother and family in Garth Precinct, Jackson County, Alabama:⁷

John and family were shown in the 1910 census (Apr 22 1910), Dry Creek Road, Hollytree Precinct, Jackson County, Alabama:¹

On Mar 25 1913 Susie's brother, Joseph Clarence Little, was shot and killed at the Paint Rock, Alabama train depot, killed by a member of the family.  Susie then helped in raising his children, William Harvey and Delphia Hasseltine "Hassie" Little.¹⁵  

On Sep 12 1918 John Henry Hinshaw, age 41, registered for the World War I draft in Montgomery, Montgomery County, Alabama.  He declared he was born Jan 26 1877, and was then residing in Montgomery where he was a farm [..unclear..] employed by the State of Alabama.  He declared his nearest relative was Arkie [unclear] Knight of Paint Rock, Alabama.  He was recorded as having blue eyes, light hair.¹⁹  

John and Susie divorced,²⁰ apparently sometime before Jan 17 1920.³

Mary died Dec 16 1964, rural Jackson County, Alabama; age 87.^{10,15,16,17,23}
