Born Oct 26 18993,4,5 [Oct 29 18991,6,7], Massachusetts3,4,5 [Templeton, Worcester County, Massachusetts1,6,7].  

On Sep 12 [1918] Charles Robinson Henshaw, age 18, registered for the World War I draft in Athol, Massachusetts.  He declared he was born October Twenty Six, 1899, and he was then residing on Barre Road, Templeton, Worcester County, Massachusetts, where he was a farmer employed by Josiah I. Henshaw, off Barre Rd., Templeton.  He declared his nearest relative was Josiah I. Henshaw of the same address.  He was recorded as tall, medium build, blue eyes, light brown hair.4  

He married Mildred Chamberlain Brown, about 1924.1,7  Mildred, daughter of Louis Miller Brown & Ethel V. Peart, was born Jul 5 1904, Templeton, Massachusetts.2,3,8  

Charles and family were shown in the 1930 census (Apr 18 1930), Henshaw Road, Templeton, Worcester County, Massachusetts:2

Henshaw, Charles R., head-of-household, age 30, born in Massachusetts; parents born in Massachusetts; first married at age 24; rented home ($12 rent); radio in home; occupation: manager, dairy farm; not a veteran.
Henshaw, Mildred, wife, age 25, born in Massachusetts; parents born in Massachusetts; first married at age 19.
Henshaw, Charles M., son, age 5, born in Massachusetts; parents born in Massachusetts.
Henshaw, Shirley, daughter, age 3 years 6 months, born in Massachusetts; parents born in Massachusetts.
Henshaw, Ralph C., son, age 5 months, born in Massachusetts; parents born in Massachusetts.
Living in the same dwelling with Charles & family in 1930 were his elderly parents.9  

In 1984 Charles was still living in Templeton, Massachusetts.3  

Charles Robinson Henshaw died Dec 26 1984, Gardner, Massachusetts.1,3,7  

In 2001 widow Mildred was still living in Templeton, Massachusetts.3  

Mildred died Aug 30 2001, Baldwinville Nursing Home, Baldwinville, Massachusetts; buried Pine Grove Cemetery.3,8  

Mildred's obituary was published in the "Worcester Telegram & Gazette" (Worcester, Massachusetts) on Aug 31 2001:8

TEMPLETON -- Mildred (Brown) Henshaw, 97, of 147 Henshaw Road, died Thursday, Aug. 30, in Baldwinville Nursing Home, Baldwinville.  

Her husband of 60 years, Charles R. Henshaw, died in 1984.  She leaves four sons, C. Milton Henshaw of Canaan, Maine, Kirke R. Henshaw of Chesterfield, and Ralph C. and Roger B. Henshaw, both of Templeton; two daughters, Shirley Barnes of Templeton and Edna Haley of Phillipston; a sister, Edna B. Brooks of Templeton; 26 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.  She was born in Templeton, daughter of Louis M. and Ethel V. (Peart) Brown, and graduated from Templeton schools.  During World War II, she worked with the American Red Cross.  

Mrs. Henshaw was a teacher several years in Phillipston and Templeton, and later worked with her husband on their farm.  

She was a member of First Church of Templeton, and taught many years of Sunday school.  She was also a member of its Benevolent Alliance and League of Service.  

She was a member of the Templeton Grange and Women's Club, and was a charter member of the Narragansett Historical Society.  She was a Cub Scout den mother, and co-founded the first hot school lunch program at the Templeton Center School.  

The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, in First Church of Templeton, 1 Wellington Road, Templeton Common.  Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery.  Calling hours are from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, in the church.  Donations can be made to the First Church of Templeton, 1 Wellington Road, Templeton, MA 01436 or the Activities Fund of the Baldwinville Nursing Home, 51 Hospital Road, Baldwinville, MA 01436.  Smith Funeral Home Inc., 69 Vernon St., Gardner, is directing arrangements.
