Born Aug 10 1892, Bulls Gap, Hawkins County, Tennessee.^{209,174,a,b,c,d}

On Jun 5 1917 Herbert Nathan Hinshaw, age 24, registered for the World War I draft in White Horn, Hawkins County, Tennessee.    He declared he was born August 10, 1892 in Bulls Gap, Tennessee, and he was then still residing at Rout [sic] 2, Bulls Gap, where he was single and engaged in farming, employed by J.M. Hinshaw of Bulls Gap.    He claimed an exemption from the draft due to "physically disabled".    He was recorded as medium height, medium build, blue eyes, black hair.^b

He married Dena Smith.^c    (Dana Smith)^d    Dena was born about 1895, Tennessee.^c,d

Herbert and family were shown in the 1920 census (Jan 7 1920), Hawkins County, Tennessee:^c

Frances died Feb 26 1977, Takoma Hospital, Greeneville, Greene County, Tennessee; age 66.^e,209,f

In 1980 Herbert was living in Rogersville, Hawkins County, Tennessee.²⁰⁹
