Because of his perpetual motion when a child, John took a lot of hard falls, knocks, and tumbles. He always came up grinning. This earned him the nickname, "Hardrock".³

He married Carol Evelyn Livengood, Feb 12 1955, Niagara Falls, Niagara County, New York.¹⁰ Carol, daughter of James Livengood & Millicent Forsythe, was born Oct 3 1936, Niagara Falls, Niagara County, New York.^6,11,12

John spent twelve years in the Air Force and was honorably discharged. He was good to his mother and helpful to all who asked for help. His hobbies are fishing, rambling around with his metal-detector, and farming. He has worked for twenty some odd years at the hospital in Mountain View, Missouri.³

Carol's obituary was published in the "Jonesboro Sun" (Jonesboro, Arkansas) on November 18, 2014:^11,12
