John George Ramzery Hinchey died Sep 14 1884, Hickman County, Kentucky.5 Medical: John died from typhoid.5
After John died, Arvena (Mary Ann) reportedly remarried to a Henry Hinshaw, Aug 13 1887, Hickman County, Kentucky5 (or -- Henshaw),1 although there might be some doubt about this7 - it might be folklore confused by Hinchey v.s. Hinshaw/Henshaw.
Arvena died Nov 11 1899, Whiting, Mississippi County, Missouri.5,8 According to family folklore, Mary Ann was killed by a wayward shot in East Prarie, Missouri.1 This seems to be confirmed by a newspaper clipping saved by Lela Tubbs, wife of Oscar Hinshaw. This clipping does not show the date [but it was apparently published Nov 12 1899] nor the name of the newspaper. There was no known newspaper in East Prarie, Missouri at this time but there was one in Charleston, Missouri (but its archives for 1898 and 1899 are missing). The news clipping follows:8
MORE MURDERS Two At a Time is the Rule Now
Whiskey and pure "cussedness" and the criminally careless use of pistols was the cause of two deaths in this county Saturday night, and by it another blot was placed on the pages of Mississippi county's history, confirming in a measure the reputation which this county has acquired through a series of murders in the past few years.
At the little sawmill town of Whiting, where a regular Saturday night fandango takes place, several bucks from East Prarie had attended, and as they were leaving the town, spurred their horses through the streets, gave out wild war-whoops and fired their revolvers in approved border ruffian style.
Among the inhabitants startled from their sleep by the unearthly noise at this late hour was Widow Henshaw. She raised in her bed, which stood by the window, and pulled aside the curtain to look out. As she did so the movement was stayed by a bullet from the pistol of a man in the party by the name of Lewis. The ball struck her in the temple, and she sank back lifeless.
An inquest was held at East Prarie yesterday, and the jury's verdict was that Mrs. Henshaw came to her death by a shot fired by Lewis "accidentally". Whether it was meant that the man discharged his weapon accidentally or that the shot accidentally struck the woman, was not specified.
The inquest referenced in the newspaper article is in the public record:8
Pres. of inquest over the body of Mrs. Mary V. Hinshaw held at Whitening Mississippi County Missouri on the 12th day of November 1899.

Hinshaw came to her death as the result of a pistol shot, that supposed [unclear] fired by [unclear] Lewis + that the killing was done accidental on November 11th 1899 at Whitening MO.

It is not certain that George was really a Hinchey/Hinshaw/Henshaw. He is identified only in an old letter and is shown as "John George Ramzery(?) Hinchey" (exactly as shown). It is possible (speculation) that Mary Ann married a John George Ramzery [Ramsey]; he then died and Mary Ann remarried to a Henshaw; the children then adopted their new step-father's surname [as Hinchey].9
This family is believed to have lived in Hickman County, Kentucky and/or East Prarie, Mississippy County, Missouri.1
Note: This family and descendents are very likely descended from or closely related to William Hinshaw, who lived in Hickman County, Kentucky and whose descendents lived in East Prarie and Charleston, Mississippi County, Missouri.
