After a three and one half months brave struggle for life Rowland Adsit, thirteen year old son of Mr. and Mrs. William Adsit, passed away Thursday afternoon at three o'clock at the family residence, 620 West Seventh street, death being due to complications resulting from an attack of and operation for appendicitis.  

Rowland was born in Traverse City June 8, 1907, and spent his entire life in this city.  He attended the public schools and on January first, when stricken with illness was a student at the Elmwood avenue school.  On January 4, he was taken to the General hospital, where he underwent an operation, and after some time gradually grew stronger, following weeks of intense suffering.  Later he was removed to his home, where until three weeks ago, when a relapse came strong hopes were held out for life full recovery.  Every possible means to save the life of their only child was employed by Mr. and Mrs. Adsit, and at one time Dr. Thompson, specialist from the Bladgett Memorial hospital in Grand Rapids, was summoned to diagnose the case.  

Rowland suffered heroically faithful to the limit of life and strength was his determination to recover and throughout his illness he never complained.  

Left to mourn their loss are many relatives and friends, besides his grief stricken parents.  Funeral services will be conducted Sunday afternoon at 3:30 at the home, 620 West Seventh street Central Methodist church officiating.  Burial will be made in Oakwood cemetery.  He was a member of Central Methodist church and Sunday School and of the Local Boy Scouts organization.

In 1947 Fanny was still living in Traverse City, Michigan.8  

William died Nov 20 1954, Munson Hospital, Traverse City, Grand Traverse County, Michigan; buried Oakwood Cemetery, Traverse City, Michigan.

William Adsit Dies Saturday

William H. Adsit, 76, lifelong resident of Traverse City and veteran railroad employee, died Saturday evening at Munson Hospital following a long illness.  

Mr. Adsit was born in Traverse City on August 14, 1878, and spent his entire life in this city.  He was a cashier for the Pennsylvania Railroad for 43 years until his retirement in 1845, and for 3½ years was employed ins the office of the Rennie Oil Company.  

He was united in marriage to Fannie Hinshaw of Leland on September 20, 1902, Mr. Adsit was member of Central Methodist church and the Maccabee lodge.  

Surviving are the widow; two sisters, Mrs. O, D. Haffa of Waterloo, IA., and Julia Adsit of this city; and several nieces and nephew.  One son, Rowland, preceded him in death in 1921.  

The body was taken to the Reynolds funeral home, where services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock.  Rev. Doun Doten of Central Methodist church will officiate, and burial will be made in the family lot in Oakwood cemetery.

DSIT -- Fannie G. Adsit, 92, of Traverse City passed away Thursday morning April 11 at the Grand Traverse Medical Care facility after a long illness.  She was born March 29, 1882, in Cedar Run to Zimri and Gula Hinshaw and then lived in the Grand Traverse area all her life.  She was married in 1902 in Leland to William H. Adsit, who preceded her in death in 1954.  Also preceding her in death were a son, Rowland and two sisters and three brothers.  Those surviving her include eight nieces and one nephews.  Mrs. Adsit was a member of the Central united Methodist Church of Traverse City.  Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, April 13 at the Reynolds Funeral Home, Traverse City, with the Rev. William W. DesAutels officiating.  Interment will be in the Oakwood Cemetery.  Memorials may be directed to the Central United Methodist Church or the Red Bird Mission of Beverly, Kentucky.
