Romantic Elopement
and Honolulu Honey-
moon Startle Friends

Consider, my son, if a maid say thee nay
There's always another, as pretty and gay.
So why should you sorrow, when jilted by one?
Just pass to another until you have one.

At any rate that may have been Fritz Henshaw's motto, when after a short engagement to the charming Pauline Painter, a still shorter wooing of another fair maid ended in an elopement to San Jose yesterday morning and a hasty wedding in the garden city.  The couple are now on a honeymoon to Honolulu and relatives and friends are still trying to get their breath and figure out how it all happened.

The pretty girl who finally became the bride in the [..unclear..] Miss Mary Gwendolyn Casedy Henderson, niece of R. T. Casedy of 6039 Claremont avenue, with whom she lived.

The rumor of young Henshaw's engagement to the attractive younger daughter of the Edgar Painters of Alameda was first heard about two months ago.  Though not formally announced it was understood, and everyone seemed delighted at the prospect.  Both families favored it warmly.

But the first rift in the lute was apparent at the wedding of Miss Janet Painter, the elder daughter, and Dr. Philip Bliss which took place at the Painter home a month ago.  Fritz Henshaw was not present, and to all inquiries about him Miss Pauline shook her pretty head and said she "didn't know".  The guests wondered.  When they saw the marked attention which was paid to the winsome bud by one of the ushers at the wedding they did not wonder so much, but still it was thought that the young lovers' quarrel was of the usual type and would soon be patched up.

In a week or so it was definitely known that the supposed engagement was broken off before it had reached the stage of an announcement.

But a young man on matrimony bent is not easily to be turned aside.  This morning came the announcement of young Henshaw's marriage to Miss Henderson, at a young Lochinvar wedding at San Jose.

Henshaw is 23 and his bride is 19.  Yesterday morning she told her uncle that she was going to visit Mrs. Henshaw at her summer home at Ben Lomond, where she has been frequently entertained.  He took her to the train, but instead of Ben Lomond, San Jose was her destination.  There she met Henshaw.  They were wed in the Catholic church there, and this morning broke the news to the bride's uncle over the telephone.

Casedy did not even know where they had gone on their honeymoon until he had his niece's luggage traced to the dock of the Sierra.  Henshaw is the son of Justice Frederick W. Henshaw of the Supreme Court of California and is employed in the Union Savings Bank in this city.

He and his bride have known each other for some time and have attended the same social affairs in the younger set.  The romance was further fostered by recent visits of the pretty bride to the summer home of Mrs. Henshaw Sr. at Ben Lomond.

Fritz was shown in the 1926 Santa Cruz County (California) Directory, living in Ben Lomond:13
