Born Nov 4 18651,2 [Apr 11 18653], Rhode Island1,2. John's birth date is shown as "04 Nov 1865" in a transcription of Rhode Island birth records,1 but as "4/11/1865" in an Ellis Island record of his returning to the U.S. from England in 1921.3 Somehow either 4/11 was transposed to 11/4, or visa versa. It's uncertain which record is correct.
John Henshaw was shown in 1891-1892 city directories of Providence, Rhode Island. He was shown as a traveling salesman, his address shown as 146 Westminster, Providence.4
John arrived in New York (Ellis Island) on Oct 17 1921 on the ship S.S. Baltic, having departed Liverpool, England on Oct 8 1921:3
