He married Ada Eleanor Denham, Nov 9 1890.^{1,135,190,205,a}    Ada, daughter of Nicholas + Margaret Denham, was born Jul 30 1873, Pleasant Hill, Missouri.¹⁹⁰    (Jul 31 1873).^a,b,d,c

Emmett moved from Missouri to Stafford County, Kansas in 1895.    He homesteaded a quarter section of land 3 miles west and 3 miles south of Stafford, Kansas.    Emmett and Ada lived in a dug-out for one year and then moved to the Hinshaw Ranch in 1896, assisting Emmett's brother William Henry.¹³⁵

Emmett was a merchant in Reno County, Kansas.¹    In 1897 Emmett and his brother J.N. purchased a general murchandise store in Plevna, Kansas, and renamed it the "Hinshaw and Hinshaw General Store".¹³⁵    Emmett also owned the "Hinshaw Grain Company" and was one of the founders of the Plevna State Bank.¹³⁵

Emmett's funeral in the Plevna Methodist Church was the largest gathering of people ever assembled at Plevna, with over one thousand people attending.¹³⁵

At one time Ada also lived at 1010 N. Madison St., Hutchinson, Kansas.^h,205

Ada died Oct 30 1955, Plevna, Reno County, Kansas; buried Plevna Cemetery, Plevna, Kansas.^h,190,c
