He married Bertha Alma Marker, Mar 11 1897, Pulaski County, Indiana.5,11,12  Bertha, daughter of James Buchanan Marker & Mariah Lidgard, was born May 31 1878, Star City, Pulaski County, Indiana.2,3,5,6,7,10,13  (c1880).4  

Note that Elmer's sister Elvira married Bertha's brother James Franklin Marker.

Living next door in 1910 was the family of Bertha's first cousin, Samuel R. (Samuel Robert) Lidgard and his wife Edna (Osborne);14 living two houses away was the family of sister Elvira.15  

On Sep 12 1918 Elmer Elsworth Hinshaw, age 43, registered for the World War I draft in Star City, Pulaski County, Indiana.  He declared he was born April 9 1875, and he was then residing in Star City, Indiana where he was a self-employed farmer.  He declared his nearest relative was Bertha Hinshaw of Star City.  He was recorded as medium height, medium build, gray eyes, black hair.9  On the same day son Carl also registered for the draft.9  The draft board official who signed the draft registration was Elmer's brother-in-law, J.F. [James Franklin] Marker.9

The following article was published in the "Logansport Pharos Tribune" (Logansport, Indiana) on November 1, 1922:16

Mrs. Ruth Hinshaw visited from Wednesday until Saturday of last week at Winimac with her daughter Mrs. Blanche Phillips and family.  

Elmer Hinshaw made a business trip to Indianapolis Saturday.

Relatives gathered at the home of Mrs. Elmer Hinshaw on Monday to help her celebrate her birthday anniversary.  A covered dish dinner was enjoyed at the noon hour.  Those present were: Mesdames Zibbie Korner, James Washburn, William Burk, Frank Marker, Mrs. Ellen Fisher, Mrs. Ruth Hinshaw, Junie Davis, Emma Korner, Clara Kelly, Carl March, Charles Brown, Dora Hinshaw, Mrs. Maude McClure and children, Mrs. Fred Stock and children, Misses Ilo Marker and Violet Wood and Mr. Chris Lidgard.

Living nearby in 1930 was Elmer's widowed mother with the family of his sister Elvira.18  

Bertha died Nov 6 1940, Chicago, Cook County, Illinois; age 62.7,10,13,19  

Elmer Elsworth Hinshaw died Jun 22 1963, buried Star City West IOOF Cemetery, Star City, Pulaski County, Indiana.7,10
