He declared he was born Jan 20 1894 [unclear] in Batesville, Arkansas, and he was then residing in Denton, Arkansas where he was a single farmer employed by T.W. Henshaw of Denton. He was recorded as medium height, medium build, grey eyes, dark hair.13
He married Ethel Angeline Flood, Jul 5 1921, Denton, Lawrence County, Arkansas.5,10 Ethel, daughter of Sherman D. Flood & Mollie V. Shoemaker, was born Feb 2 1902, Biggers, Randolph County, Arkansas.2,16

He declared he was born 1-28-1895 in Batesville, Arkansas, and was then residing in/near Powhatan, Lawrence County, Arkansas; self-employed. He declared his relative/contact was Ethel Henshaw of Powhatan. He was recorded as 5'10" tall, 134 lbs., gray eyes, brown hair, light brown complexion, and "ruptured".12
James Warren Hanshaw died Sep 21 1956, Black Rock, Lawrence County, Arkansas; buried Old Bethel Cemetery, Denton, Lawrence County, Arkansas.1,8,15 (Sep 27 1956).11
James Warren Hanshaw is buried in the same cemetery where his uncle, Jacob Robert Henshaw (aka Hanshaw) is also buried.8,11
After James died Ethel remarried about 1964 to Jasper Russel.5,6

Ethel Angeline Hanshaw Russell, 107, of Walnut Ridge passed away Tuesday, Jan. 5, 2010.
She was born Feb. 2, 1902, at Biggers, the daughter of Sherman D. and Mollie V. Shoemaker Flood.
Survivors are her son, Bob (Shirley) Hanshaw of Powhatan; daughter-in-law, Jessie Loop of Nevada; seven grand-children; 26 great-grandchildren; several great-great-grand-children; and many nieces and nephews.
Services were in Bryan Funeral Home Chapel with Ed Gregory officiating. Interment was in Bethel Cemetery near Denton.
