He married Ida Alice Lewis.1,5  Ida, daughter of James "Stephen" Lewis & Margaret Ann Gann, was born Apr 11 1894, Missouri.2,5,9  

Jim and family were shown in the 1920 census (Jan 3 1920), Roubidoux Township, Pulaski County, Missouri:2

Hinshaw, Jim, head-of-household, age 26, born in Missouri; parents born in Missouri; rented home; farmer.
Hinshaw, Ida, wife, age 25, born in Missouri; father born in Texas; mother born in Tennessee.
Hinshaw, Mabel, daughter, age 7, born in Missouri; parents born in Missouri; attended school.
Hinshaw, Wesley, son, age 5, born in Missouri; parents born in Missouri.
Just two houses away in 1920 was the household of Jim's father and brother Earl.11  

Jim and Ida apparently divorced.  Ida remarried to Thomas Jefferson Hull.5  Ida died Jun - 1975, Colorado; buried Grandview Cemetery (Colona Cemetery), Ouray County, Colorado.5,9  

He then married Pluma May Bricker1,6 [Plumey May Bricker12], about 19261,6.  Pluma, daughter of Joseph Bricker, was born Apr 5 1909, Missouri.6,12  

Jim and family were again shown in the 1930 census (Apr 28 1930), Roubidoux Township, Pulaski County, Missouri:6

Hinshaw, Plumie M., wife, age 20, born in Missouri; parents born in Missouri; first married at age 16.
Hinshaw, Lavinie D., daughter, age 2 years 3 months, born in Missouri; parents born in Missouri.
Hinshaw, James J., son, age 10 months, born in Missouri; parents born in Missouri.
Bricker, Clay E., brother-in-law, age 25, born in Missouri; parents born in Missouri; single; occupation: labor, farm; not a veteran.

Pluma died Feb 1 1931, Roubidoux Township, Pulaski County, Missouri; age 21y 9m 26d.12  

He then married Verba Caudle1 [Verba Cromer7].  

In 1976 Jim was living in/near Lake of the Ozarks, Camden County, Missouri.9  

James Starr Hinshaw died May 29 1976, Mt. Vernon, Missouri; buried Dowty Cemetery (Wair Chapel Cemetery), near Richland, Laclede County, Missouri.9,10  (May 28 1976, Lake Ozark, Miller County, Missouri).5  

Jim's obituary was published in the "Pulaski County Democrat" on June 3, 1976.10
