William T. Hinshaw3,6,7,8 [William F. Hinshaw2,9, William Trougott10].

Born Jun - 1836, North Carolina.2,5,8,11,12  (c1838).10  (c1840).1  

It appears that William and his sister Martha were born to a Trougott/Triggett family and then adopted (either formally or informally) by William Hinshaw & Margaret Triggett.  In the 1850 census they were shown as William and Martha Trougott,10 but in later years always as Hinshaw.  He was sometimes recorded as William T. Hinshaw, so it's possible he was known as William Triggett/Trougott Hinshaw.13  

William was shown in the 1860 census (Jun 11 1860), living and/or working in the household of a Josiah Atkins in the Broadbay District, Forsyth County, North Carolina:8

Josiah Atkins, age 50 [unclear], born in North Carolina; $650 real estate; $300 personal property.
Mary A Atkins, age 54, born in North Carolina.
Mary A Atkins, age 30, born in North Carolina.
Ada P Atkins, age 21, born in North Carolina.
William T. Hinshaw, age 23, born in North Carolina; farm laborer; $100 personal property.
David Fuller, age 21, born in North Carolina; farm laborer; $60 personal property.
Living nearby in 1860 were William's (adopted) parents and family.14  

On May 24 1861 William T. Henshaw, a resident of Forsyth County, North Carolina, enlisted in Forsyth County as a Private in Company E, North Carolina 21st Infantry (Confederate); mustered out Apr 26 1862.15  

William was shown in the 1870 census (Jun 15 1870), working in (and apparently living in) the Hope Female Seminary, a boarding school for girls founded in 1859 by the Moravian Church, aka Unity of the Brethren (http://www.jstor.org/stable/41179677) at Hope, Bartholomew County, Indiana:16

Hinshaw, Wm, age 33, born in North Carolina; domest. servant.
Also living near Hope in 1879 was William's sister Martha.17  

He married Sarah C. Rothrock, Oct 9 1870, Bartholomew County, Indiana.6,7  Sarah was born about 1851, North Carolina.11  Sarah had also been a domestic servant, working with William in the Hope Female Seminary in 1870.11

He then married Rella Stapp2,3,7,9 [Cerella "Rella" Stapp18], Jan 15 18782,3,7,9, Jefferson County, Indiana2,3,7,9.  Rella was born May - 1847, Indiana.1,2,18,19

William and family were shown in the 1900 census (Jun 9 1900), 92 South Pike, Shelbyville, Shelby County, Indiana:2

Hinshaw, Wm. F., head-of-household, age 63, born June 1836 in North Carolina; parents born in North Carolina; married 22 years; occupation: hatter [unclear]; rented home.
Hinshaw, Rella S., wife, age 53, born May 1847 in Indiana; parents born in Indiana; married 22 years; 5 children, 4 living.
Hinshaw, Fanny B., daughter, age 21, born Feb 1879 in Indiana; father born in North Carolina; mother born in Indiana; occupation: stenographer.
Hinshaw, Russell C., son, age 19, born Apr 1881 in Indiana; father born in North Carolina; mother born in Indiana; occupation: cabinet maker.

William and family were shown in the 1910 census (Apr 22 1910), Shelbyville, Shelby County, Indiana: South Pike,5

Hinshaw, Rella, wife, age 64, born in Indiana; parents born in Indiana; first marriage, married 30 years; 5 children, 4 living.
Hinshaw, Luella, daughter, age 18, born in Indiana; father born in North Carolina; mother born in Indiana; occupation: singer, nickels.

Rella died Dec 3 1911, Shelbyville, Shelby County, Indiana; buried Moravian Cemetery (Hope Cemetery), Hope, Bartholomew County, Indiana.18,19  

William T. Hinshaw died Dec 28 1915, Shelbyville, Shelby County, Indiana; buried Moravian Cemetery (Hope Cemetery), Hope, Bartholomew County, Indiana.12
