On Sep 12 1918 Irvin Stanley Hinshaw, age 39, registered for the World War I draft in Woods County, Oklahoma. He declared his residence was 410 Calloyp [or Callayl - unclear]. Alva, Woods County, Oklahoma, where he was a teacher working for the State Board of Education. He named his nearest relative as Grace Myrtle Hinshaw. He was recorded as medium build, medium height.10

About 1935, Irvin and Grace were in an automobile accident which was reported in a Bryan County, Oklahoma newspaper:15
FORMER DURANT MAN AND WIFE ARE HURT
Three residents of Ada were injured today when the car in which they were riding overturned on U. S. highway 69 two miles south of here.
I. S. Henshaw suffered a wrenched back, his wife, 55, a severely smashed hand, and Mrs. C. N. Phillips, 70, mother of Mrs. Henshaw, a scalp wound.
HENSHAWS FORMERLY LIVED IN DURANT
Friends here of Mr. and Mrs. I. S. Henshaw believe the injured couple at Muskogee to be the former Durant school superintendent and his wife. They moved to Ada several years ago. Mr. Henshaw has been a member of the Southeastern faculty and was superintendent at several other points over the district. Mrs. Henshaw's mother also was well known.

The above newspaper clipping was dated May 21, year unknown,16 although from the mention of Grace's age it can be concluded it was in or about 1935. The newspaper is believed to have been the Daily Democrat of Durant, Oklahoma.16

Hinshaw, Mary Margret, daughter, age 18, born in Oklahoma; completed [..unclear..] years of high school; on Apr 1 1935 was living in the same city; occupation: new worker.
Phillips, Margret, mother-in-law, age 81, born in Indiana; completed 8th grade; widow; on Apr 1 1935 was living in the same city; occupation: housewife, housekeeping.
Grace died 1948.17
Irvin Stanley Hinshaw died Feb 18 1961, buried Ada, Pontotoc County, Oklahoma.4
