On Jun 5 1917 Samuel Carlton Henshaw, age 29, registered for the World War I draft in New Canaan Town, Fairfield County, Connecticut.  He declared he was born November 15 1887 in Fairfield, Connecticut, and was then residing in New Canaan, Connecticut where he was married and a self-employed farmer.  He was recorded as medium height, stout, gray eyes, light brown hair.  He claimed an exemption "on ground of being mentally unfit".5  

He married Ada Rebecca Botsford.4  Ada, daughter of Edward M. + Sarah Botsford, was born Apr 17 1890, Connecticut.1,2,4
