Mary Swift Hinshaw1,2 [Mary Swift Henshaw1, Swift Mary Hinshaw3].
Born about 1858, Indiana.3
It is unclear if Mary was the natural child of Zeno & Abigail Hinshaw or not. She was shown with them in the 1870 census at age 12,3 making her birth about 1858, yet she was not shown in her parents household in the 1860 census,4 when she would have been about 2 years old. This, plus her unusual name, makes it seem that she might have been an adopted orphan.5 In fact the 1860 census shows there was a family of a James & Mary A. Swift who lived not far from Zeno & Abigail Hinshaw, and they had a daughter, Mary A. Swift, who was shown age 36 (making her birth about 1857).
She married Henry W. Broadstone, Aug 28 1879, Clay County, Indiana.1,2
