Albert's obituary was published as follows:13
Into the home of Iram and Melvina Hinshaw, March 6, 1865 was born the subject of this sketch -- Albert Hinshaw. He was the only son in that home -- the other members were girls, four sisters. While he was yet a child, death robbed him of his best friend -- mother. From that time on he felt the responsibility of the sisters and did all in his power to assist them along the journey of life.
Albert was familiar with the hardships of an orphan and many were the sacrifices he was called upon to make, but he bore then uncomplainly and was ever mindful of those around him, especially his sisters.
In the spring of 1889 he was united in marriage to Lilpha Laurence. Children came to bless this union and little Marjoie [sic] has been in the "Home of the Bles't" for a few years, seeming alone, but now father is with her. Ethel the other daughter, wife of Mr. Warren Fudge, is left to care for and console mother. Albert loved nature and most of his life was spent on a farm although he had followed other vocations his choice was the farm and at the time of his death he had just moved into his own little home, near Chester, Ind.
A few years ago his health failed him in Richmond -- feeling the good air of the country would help him he moved into the home of Aunt Polly Hinshaw and here he and his good wife did all that hands and heart could do for "Aunt" as long as she lived.
He was a member of the K of P and Odd Fellows lodges but the organization he loved the most was his church. He was a member of the Friends Church and always attended when circumstances permitted.
About a week ago he was stricken with heart trouble and although medical aid was summoned it seem to avail working. During his last sickness he suffered much at times, but again we find him not murmuring only thinking of the comfort of those around him. He consecrated himself to his Saviour and would often say "It is with my soul". While he bore his pain without complaining he seemed troubled concerning the future of his dear companion he was soon to leave but after being assured she would have good care he became satisfied and died a vitorious death, March 30, 1915, 50 years and 23 days.
Widow Zilpha was shown in the 1920 census (Feb 4 1920), living in the household of daughter Ethel in Washington Township, Randolph County, Indiana:5
Sylvia died 1921, buried New Garden Cemetery, south of Fountain City, Wayne County, Indiana.9
