He married Jane -.4 Jane was born Dec - 1833, Alabama.3 (c1835).1 (c1840).2
Note: it is uncertain if Jane was married to a Hinshaw, or if perhaps she might have been a slave in a Hinshaw household prior to emancipation. There were very few Hinshaws who owned slaves (none in the 1860 Slave Schedules for Jackson County, Alabama), however in the 1850 Slave Schedules there was a black female slave, born about 1840, shown in the household of William Hinshaw #2244; there was also a black female slave, born about 1839, shown in the household of George Washington Hinshaw #3463. Either of these might have been Jane (if so then she presumably was not married to a Hinshaw, as slaves were not formally married, but she might have taken the Hinshaw name after emancipation, along with her children).5
