On Sep 12 1918 Lawrence Harvey Hanshaw, age 21, registered for the World War I draft in Spokane, Washington.  He declared he was born Aug 30 1897, and was then residing at RFD #8, Yardley, Spokane County, Washington, where he was in logging employed by Inl[and] Emp[ire] Paper Mill Co.  of Millwood, Spokane County, Washington.  He declared his nearest relative was Wilma Hanshaw of the same address.  He was recorded as tall, medium build, blue eyes, brown hair.5  

Lawrence and family were shown in the 1930 census (Apr 8 1930), School Ave., Millwood, Spokane County, Washington:1

Hinshaw, Lawrence H., head-of-household, age 31, born in Minnesota; parents born in Minnesota; first married at age 20; owned home ($2000 value); radio in home; occupation: laborer, paper mill; not a war veteran.
Hanshaw, Wilma E., wife, age 29, born in Washington; father born in U.S.; mother born in Kansas; first married at age 17.
Hanshaw, Gordon H., son, age 8, born in Washington; father born in Minnesota; mother born in Washington; attended school.

Wilma died Jul 8 1965, Spokane, Spokane County, Washington; buried Pines Cemetery, Opportunity, Washington.6,8,9  

Wilma's obituary was published in "The Spokesman-Review" (Spokane, Washington) on Friday, July 9, 1965:8

HANSHAW, E. Wilma -- Her home, E9012 Grace Ave., Millwood, Wn. Wife of Lawrence Hanshaw at the home; daughter of of Mrs. Phenie Litts, Spokane Valley; grandmother of Gordon Michael Hanshaw, Downey, Calif.; 1 great-grandson.  Member of the Millwood Presbyterian Church; Gold Star Mothers; a lifetime resident of Spokane & Spokane Valley.  Funeral service Sat. July 10 at 2 p.m. In the COLONIAL CHAPEN [sic] of the HAZEN & JAEGER SPOKANE VALLEY FUNERAL HOME, N1306 PINES RD.  Burial the Pines Cemetery, Opp.

In 1974 Lawrence was living in/near Spokane, Washington.4
