John remarried c1909 to Mary Aretta "Retta" Stalsworth (Oct 15 1865 - Aug 23 1913).¹⁰ She was the daughter of Samuel Stalsworth & Susannah "Susan" Coffey,¹⁰ (Amanda's maternal aunt and uncle) and therefore was Amanda's first cousin (and John & Amanda's next door neighbor).^11,12
