It appears that Sophronia probably died sometime between 1891 and 1894,6 as Samuel was shown remarried in the 1910 census (Apr 20 1910), Grainger County, Tennessee:3

Yates, Samuel S., head-of-household, age 38, born in Tennessee; parents born in Tennessee; married 16 years (first marriage [sic]); farmer.
Yates, Anna C., wife, age 34, born in Tennessee; parents born in Tennessee; married 16 years (first marriage); 1 child, 1 living.
Yates, Bertha M., daughter, age 13, born in Tennessee; parents born in Tennessee.
In the 1910 census Sophronia's son Charles Yates was shown living with her sister Nancy.5  

Samuel and family were again shown in the 1920 census (Feb 4 1920), Grainger County, Tennessee:7

Yates, Samuel S., head-of-household, age 47, born in Tennessee; parents born in Tennessee; rented home; farmer.
Yates, Anna C., wife, age 43, born in Tennessee; parents born in Tennessee.
Yates, Bertha M., daughter, age 22, born in Tennessee; parents born in Tennessee.

Samuel died Jun 14 1946.1
