Manerva probably died before 1888,24 as William remarried c1888 to an Elizabeth Murphy.13  Manerva is buried at Samples Cemetery, Dulls Creek, Clay County, West Virginia.14  

On Nov 14 1894 [date unclear], William H. Jeffers applied for a pension as an invalid veteran of Company K, 7th West Virginia Cavalry, and also Company H, 8th West Virginia Infantry25 [the same unit].26  On June 8 1910 [date unclear], Elizabeth Jeffers applied for a widow's pension.25

Murphy, Marion, step-son, age 14, born Mch 1886 in West Virginia; parents born in West Virginia; single; attended school 3 months.
Living next door in 1900 was the family of son Paul Raymond Jeffers.15
