June 13, 1928 - March 9, 2013
Lewis Arthur Henshaw, 84, passed away on Saturday, March 9, 2013. He was a native of Princeton, Alabama and was a resident of Newport News for 49 years. Lewis served honorably in the U.S. Air force and retired as SSGT after 23 years of service. He continued his career working at the Book N' Card Shop, Book Haven, and Treasure Hut, where he met many friends.
Lewis is survived by his wife of 58 years, Joan Henshaw; son, John W. Henshaw of Williamsburg; daughters [sic], Marie H. McCain of Williamsburg; grandchildren, Bryan S., Christopher S. and Taylor S. Henshaw, all of Fairfax, VA; great-grandson, Tristan D. Henshaw; sisters, Marie Miller and Geneva Smith, both of Chattanooga, TN; and a very dear friend of the family, Cathie Bradshaw of Boykins, VA.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 pm on Friday, March 15, 2013, at Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, with a graveside service, with military honors, to follow at Hampton-Veterans Memorial Gardens.
Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of your choice.
Friends are encouraged to visit www.parklawn-woodfh.com to share memories and words of condolence with the family.
Arrangements are under the care of Parklawn-Wood Funeral Home, 2551 N. Armistead Avenue, Hampton, VA 23666.
