Matilda apparently died sometime after the 1851 census. There is a record of a Matilda Henshaw who died in Bedford in Mar 1854,8 and another Matilda Henshaw who died in Bedford in Jun 18588 (either of these might be this Matilda).9
He then married Mary Ann Proctor.1,2 Mary was born about 1837, Bedford, Bedfordshire.7 (c1840).3
