Velda Calline Hinchee died Oct 27 1992, Peoria, Peoria County, Illinois.2  Velda's obituary appeared in the "Peoria Journal Star" (Illinois) on Oct 29 1992, as follows:2

WASHINGTON -- Velda Aline Childress, 80, of 2213 E. Linnhill died at 7:20 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 27, 1992, at the Lutheran Home Nursing Center in Peoria.  Born Sept. 7, 1912, in Repton, Ky., to John David and Bessie E. Sylvey Hinchee, she married William W. Childress on May 18, 1940, in Benton, Ky.  He died Sept. 27, 1987.  She also was preceded in death by four brothers, three sisters and one grandson.  Surviving are five daughters, Mrs. Ray (Maxine) Schroeder of Muskegon, Mich., Mrs. Floyd (Orene) Taylor of East Peoria, Dorothy L. Johnson and Mrs. Lucas (Joretta) Minehart, both of Peoria, and Mrs. Tom (Jean) White of Oak Harbor, Wash.; 12 grandchildren; 15 great- grandchildren; and four great- great-grandchildren.  She was a clerk at the Peoria Public Library for 25 years, retiring in 1977.  Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Schmidt-Haller Funeral Parlors in East Peoria, where visitation will be two hours before the services.  The Rev. Val Tarlton will officiate.  Burial will be in Fon Du Lac Cemetery in East Peoria.  Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Disabled American Veterans.
