On Jun 5 1917 William Richard Spinks, age 21, registered for the World War I draft in Haskell County, Texas.  He declared he was born February 12 1896 in DeLeone, Texas, and was then residing in Haskell County, Texas, a self-employed farmer with a wife and child.  He was recorded as medium height, slender, brown eyes, brown hair.10

Living next door in 1920 were Lillian's parents with sisters Callie and Bessie.16

Living next door in 1930 was the family of sister Mary;17 one more house away was the family of sister Bessie;18 living next door on the other side was the family of sister Ida.19  

In 1965 Lillian was living in Haskell, Haskell County, Texas.20  

William died Sep 25 1971, Mesa, Maricopa County, Arizona; buried Graham Cemetery, Safford, Graham County, Arizona.2,3,9

Lillian's obituary was published as follows:3

Lillian Spinks 76, a former resident of Haskell, TX passed away in a Safford, AZ hospital at 9:00 pm, Thursday, February 24, 1977, following a lengthy illness.  

Mrs. Spinks was born to Geo Washington Henshaw & Calcadonia (Hartline) Henshaw on May 26, 1900 in Bell County, TX and came to Haskell County, TX in 1905 traveling by covered wagon.  At the age of sixteen she married Richard Spinks on August 27, 1916 in Haskell, TX and they lived awhile in Haskell, McLean, TX, Paris, AR, and then moved to Pima, Safford, Clifton & Apache Junction, AZ.  

Funeral services were held Monday, February 28, with burial in Graham County Cemetery in Safford, AZ.  

Those preceding her in death were her husband Richard Spinks who passed away September 25, 1971.  Son Elmer Spinks died June 12, 1951.  Daughter Juanita Bridges Sallis died June 10, 1972.  Daughter Lillian Lucile died when still an infant and one granddaughter Janet Carol Bridges April 16, 1952.  

Survivors include three sons: Bill of Tucson, AZ Clifford of Winslow, AZ Sgt Jerry Spinks of the US Army in Germany

Three daughters: Myrtis (Carr) Walker of Phoenix, AZ Wanda Sanders of Duncan, AZ Dana (Cook) Schwab of Mesa, AZ.  She is also survived by 22 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.  

Four sisters: Mrs. Georgia Moore; Mrs Willie Rose; Mrs Bessie Piland all of Haskell and Mrs Callie Phillips Scheets of Amarillo.  A sister Sarah Ida Jane (Henshaw) died June 17, 1965 in Abernathy, TX, a sister Mrs Mary Scott died October 29, 1971 in Haskell, a sister Maggie Lee Henshaw died August 26, 1892 at the age of three.  One brother Jms Washington Henshaw died December 17, 1953 in Haskell, TX.  

Lillian and family lived many years in Texas & Arizona, also live at times in Arkansas, Calif & once in New Mexico.
