Born about 1852, Jackson County, Alabama.8,9  (c1856).1  (1855).4  (c1848).2  (c1850).5,7  

Jane never married.3  It is believed that all three of her children were by different fathers.  One, believed to be the father of George, was Lem Motlow, who came from the Jack Daniels distillery family.  Lem was very wealthy, and Motlow College was named after him.3  Another of Jane's partners was a -- Hereford.3

On Jun 5 1918, when son George registered for the World War I draft, Jane was living in Maxwell, Franklin County, Tennessee.14

Living nearby in 1930 was the family of John Thomas Hinshaw.15  

Betsy Jane Hinshaw died Mar 2 1939, Huntland, Franklin County, Tennessee; age about 90.7,16  

Betsy Jane's death certificate, as attested by son George, shows she was a daughter of John Hinshaw (mother's name unknown), and the widow of a Bill Hinshaw.7,16  The death certificate for son Thomas, as attested by George's wife, shows his father was a James Hinshaw and his mother was "Jane (unknown)".7  The death certificate for daughter Elizabeth, as attested by brother George, shows her father was a Jim Hinshaw and her mother was Jane Hinshaw.7
