Mildred "Mil" Grieve
August 6, 1926 - January 01, 2014Mildred "Mil" Grieve, a longtime resident of Ossining, passed away on New Year’s Day, 2014. Mil was born in Tarrytown on August 6, 1926 and was the daughter of the late Everett I. and Kathleen Hall (Wheatley) Henshaw. She was 87.
Mil is survived by her loving husband Bill; her 2 children Susan (Norman) Giggins and Thomas (Dee Osborn) Grieve; her 3 grandchildren Jason, Courtney and Trevor Giggins; and 8 great grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Dorsey.
The services and interment will be private.
William died Aug 25 2016, age 92.2
William's obituary was published in "The Journal News" on August 27, 2016:2
William T. Grieve - A longtime resident of Ossining, Passed away Thursday, August 25, 2016. Bill was born in Yonkers on September 12, 1923 and was the son of the Late William T. and Irene (Corke) Grieve. He was 92.
Mr. Grieve was a graduate of Commerce H.S. in Yonkers. He had many happy memories of his father's career as an American League Umpire who umpired many World Series Games over a 20 year career.
Bill was an employee with N.Y. Central, Penn Central, Conrail and Metro North Railroad where he was a clerk in N.Y. City. He was also the treasurer for the union for over 20 years. Bill retired in the early 1980's after over 40 years with the railroad.
Mr. Grieve met his wife Mildred (Henshaw) in Grand Central Ticket Office and they married in Ossining at St. Ann's Church in the Blizzard of 1947. Millie predeceased Bill on January 1, 2014.
William is survived by his daughter Susan Giggins, his son Thomas, three grandchildren and 9 great- grandchildren.
Visiting hours will be at Dorsey on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9pm with the funeral services on Monday at 11:15 am at Dorsey Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery.
