On Sep 12 1918 Earnest Leroy Hinshaw, age 18, registered for the World War I draft in Woodward County, Oklahoma. He declared he was born Dec 1 1899 and was then residing in Sharon, Woodward County, Oklahoma, and his occupation was farming, employed by a Collier Williams of Sharon. He declared his nearest relative was Mrs. Gertie Faith Hinshaw of Sharon. He was recorded as medium height, medium build, brown eyes, light brown hair. On the same day son Leroy's father and brother Jesse also registered for the draft.8
Leroy was shown in the 1920 census (Jan 31 1920), 116 Husband St., Stillwater, Payne County, Oklahoma:9

HINSHAW E. Leroy, 94, passed away on December 8, 1993. Born December 1, 1899 in Kansas. He came to Oklahoma at an early age. Leroy retired from the hearing aid business after 30 years of service. Survivors include his wife of 72 years, Goldia Keith Hinshaw; children, Letha Merrill, Keith Hinshaw and Jean Chiaf, all of Oklahoma City and Kenneth Hinshaw of Tucson, Az.; 7 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, Dec. 10, 1993 at the South Colonial Chapel.

HINSHAW Goldia E., 94, passed away May 27, 1997. She was born Dec. 10, 1902 in Woodward County, Ok. Goldia was office manager at Sonotone Hearing Aid Co. and later worked at Streets Dept. Store. She was an active member of South Lee United Methodist Church where she was involved in UMW & choir. Preceded in death by her husband, Leroy, in 1993. Survivors include her children, Letha Merrill, Keith Hinshaw & Jean Chiaf of OKC & Kenneth Hinshaw of Tucson, Az; brother, Kenneth Keith of Lubbock, Tx; sisters, Lola Mae Wedman of Yukon, Ok & Bertha Knittle of Mooreland, Ok; 7 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, 2 great-great grandchildren. Services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 30, 1997 at the South Colonial Chapel.
