Jacob Mincer had been a Hessian Soldier.5 During the Revolutionary War, Hessian soldiers from Germany were brought here by the English to fight against the colonies. Hessian prisoners were housed in Winchester, Virginia and other towns. At the end of the war many of the Hessians integrated into the surrounding communities.5
