The following biography of Henry Snyder appeared in a Kentucky state history book:4
HENRY T. SNYDER was born in Madison County, Va., December 24, 1804. He is the eldest of a family of six children born to Robert and Lucy (Utz) Snyder, both natives of Madison County, Va. Robert Snyder was a farmer in Virginia, where he lived and died. His wife died in Boone County, Ky., in 1871. Henry T. Snyder was brought up in Virginia, and received his education there. He followed farming in Virginia until 1847, when he moved to Kentucky, and settled in Boone County near where he now resides. He moved to his present, beautiful residence about 1877, where he has four acres of ground. In 1828 he was married to Sarah Henshaw, a daughter of William Henshaw, of Virginia. To this union thirteen children were born: Margaret A., William R., Henry, Frances J., James P., Julius F., George A., John E., Sarah E., Virginia E., Uriah C., Octavo and an infant. Mrs. Snyder died in 1871, and in 1872 Mr Snyder married Nannie J. Durham, of Dillsboro, Ind. Mr. Snyder is a member of the Baptist Church. Politically he is a Democrat.
