"Thomas Henshaw of Basset's Fee and Benton-place, in Shipley"1

Born before 1600, England.4

Admitted of the Inner Temple, London, 24 Elizabeth (Nov 23 1581).2

He married Jane Wistow.1  "Jane, only daughter and heir of Richard Wistow, of London, chief chirurgeon to Q. Elizabeth".1,2  [Webster: chirurgeon, n., archaic, surgeon]

He then married Katharin Gowre6 [Katherine Gower1,7, Catherine Gower5], Jul 2 16186, St. Lawrence Pountney Church, London, England6.  "Katherine, daughter of Walter Gower, of Worcester".1  Katherine was daughter of Walter Gower of Waldershare, and sister of Peter Gower.2

Thomas Henshaw was living on Otterdam in Surry County, Virginia, by 1638 when his already well-established property was mentioned as adjoining that of a new patent of land to Captain William Brocas.  He is presumably the same Thomas Henshaw who was granted land in this part of Virginia under the second charter of King James I on 23 May 1609.5
