Joe was shown in the 1910 census (Apr 20 1910), living with the family of his deceased brother William in Franklin County, Tennessee:6

Hinshaw, Joe J., brother-in-law, age 48 [unclear], born in Tennessee; parents born in Tennessee; single; occupation: farm laborer, home farm.

Joseph Hinshaw was shown in the 1920 census (Jan 21-23 1920), Franklin County, Tennessee:7

He married Emma Jane Young, Aug 22 1935, Franklin County, Tennessee.10  Emma, daughter of Isaac Young & Mary Susan Holder, was born Feb 19 1869, Tennessee.8,11,12,13,14  (Feb 15 1869).1,15  

Emma was the widow of Joe's brother, William Nathan Hinshaw, who had died in 1907.  

Joe and Emma were shown in the 1940 census (Apr 10 1940), living with Emma's daughter Ollie and her husband in Franklin County, Tennessee:8

McKinney, Ollie, wife, age 37, born in Tennessee; completed 1 year of high school; on Apr 1 1935 was living in the same place.
Hinshaw, Joe, father-in-law, age 78, born in Tennessee; completed 2nd grade; on Apr 1 1935 was living in the same house.
Hinshaw, Emma, mother-in-law, age 70, born in Tennessee; completed 8th grade; on Apr 1 1935 was living in the same place.

Joseph Jefferson Hinshaw died Jan 23 1944, near Winchester, Franklin County, Tennessee; age 82y 1m 0d.1,2,3  

Buried immediately next to Joseph in Green Cemetery is his mother, Sarah (Burk) Hinshaw.2,16  Also buried elsewhere in Green Cemetery is Eliza J. Hinshaw #2487 (1822-1859),2,17 who might be closely related.18  

Emma died Feb 19 1949, near Winchester, Franklin County, Tennessee; age 80.1,19,20,21
