Ray and family were shown in the 1940 census (May 2 1940), 111 Third St., Shelbyville, Shelby County, Indiana:1

Hinshaw, Ray, head-of-household, age 31, born in Indiana; completed 4 years of college; on Apr 1 1935 was living in the same house; rented home ($20/month rent); occupation: high school teacher; worked 36 weeks in 1939; $1620 wages in 1939.
Hinshaw, Katherine, wife, age 32, born in Ohio; completed 4 years of college; on Apr 1 1935 was living in the same house.
Hinshaw, David M., son, age 4, born in Indiana.

In 1992 Ray was living in/near Indianapolis, Marion County, Indiana.7  

Garnet Ray Hinshaw died Feb 18 1992, Shelby County, Indiana; buried Section 3 Row 6 Group 3, Forest Hill Cemetery, Shelbyville, Shelby County, Indiana.6,7  

In 1998 Kate was living in/near Brownsburg, Hendricks County, Indiana.7  

Stella died Feb 11 1998, buried Forest Hill Cemetery, Shelbyville, Shelby County, Indiana.7,8  

Kate's obituary was published as follows:8

Former Shelbyville resident Stella Katherine "Kate" Hinshaw, 90, died Wednesday, Brownsburg.  

Born on Feb. 3, 1908, in Dayton, Ohio, d/o Rev. George and Gertrude (Spyker) Stine.  

On June 7, 1935, she married Ray Hinshaw, who preceded her in death.  

Moved from Shelbyville to Indianapolis in 1986.  

Teacher for 22 years, teaching at Wanamaker, Morristown and Shelbyville schools.  

She retired in 1973.  

Member of the Friends of the Library, Sigma Lambda Chi and the Book Review Club, all of Shelbyville.  

Member of the First United Methodist Church of Shelbyville for more than 50 years, she had taught Sunday school.  

Current member of the Chapel Hill United Methodist Church, Indianapolis.  

Survivors include a son, Michael Hinshaw, Brownsburg; two grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.  Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by a brother.  

Carmony-Ewing Broadway Funeral Home, with James Wagner officiating.  

Burial Forest Hill Cemetery.  

Memorial contributions may be made to the Shelbyville-Shelby County Public Library or First United Methodist Church.
