John 'Floyd' Hinshaw
April 11, 1930 - December 12, 2014DURHAM: Mr. John Floyd Hinshaw, 84, died Friday morning, December 12th at Peak Resources in Durham. Mr. Hinshaw was born in Guilford County, NC to the late Thomas Wiley Hinshaw and Alma Grey Shelton Hinshaw.
Mr. Hinshaw is survived by his wife of 56 years, Connie House Hinshaw of Bahama; daughters, Debbie Farmer (Gary Farmer), Sandy Hinshaw (Danny Mayes), Robin Hinshaw (Ray Klumb), brothers Thomas Wiley Hinshaw Jr. (Pat), Paul Grey Hinshaw (Pat); five grandchildren, Brian Farmer, Kevin Farmer, John Wesley Farmer, Joseph Farmer, and Greyson Hinshaw; and four great-grandchildren, Layla Farmer, Kamden Farmer, Rogan Farmer, and Owen Farmer.
Floyd graduated from Braggtown High School and then retired from Honeywell after working for 44 years. Upon retirement, he began traveling with his family singing Southern Gospel Music. As a family, they recorded several CD’s and ministered in churches along the eastern United States. He was also a long time member of Hillsborough Wesleyan Church.
Family will receive friends Monday, December 15, 2014 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Clements Funeral Home and at other times at Robin’s home in Bahama. A funeral service will be held at Clements Funeral Chapel on Tuesday, December 16, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Odell Link, Rev. Noah Albarez, and the Rev. Dr. Dennis Boone officiating. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Durham.
Floyd had a kind and gentle soul and will be missed by everyone who had the privilege of knowing him.
