Mary was organist at Eagletown Methodist Church for 39 years and taught Sunday school for 35 years.1 She was the first president of the Friendly Eagles Home Ec Club from 1940-41, and was an honorary member of the club. She was a volunteer in the gift shop at Riverview Hospital, Noblesville, Indiana, for 9 years. In 1983, she was crowned Hamilton County Senior Queen at the age of 85. Mary was active in Fun For Folks, Outlook Club, United Methodist Women, and was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Westfield, Indiana, which she attended regularly.1 She enjoyed making quilts, tatting, sewing, working her yard and playing piano and organ. In 1977, she wrote the story of her life and presented copies to her family for Christmas. A copy was placed in the Westfield Library for interested readers. She lived through an era of so many "first" - she called these the "Golden Years". At the age of 80 she began writing poetry and wrote more than 900 poems.1
Perry died Mar 17 1962, Westfield, Hamilton County, Indiana; buried Summit Lawn Cemetery, Westfield, Hamilton County, Indiana.1
