Ruthanna Kirkman

CARBONDALE - Ruthanna Kirkman, 97, of Westfield, Ind., died Sunday, Dec. 24, 2006, in Riverview Hospital in Noblesville, Ind.  

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 28, 2006, in the chapel of Hamilton Memorial Park in Westfield.  Eastern Star rites will be at 11 a.m. in the chapel, followed by services.  Burial will be in Summit Lawn Cemetery in Westfield.  

McMullan Funeral Home in Westfield is in charge of arrangements.  

Ruthanna and her husband formerly owned Kirkman's Flower Shop in Westfield.  She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Westfield, where she also served as organist and financial secretary.  She was a member of Eastern Star Chapter 524, Outlook Club, Bridge Club and was the last member of the Pinochle Club.  

She was a volunteer at Riverview Hospital in Noblesville.  

She was born Sept. 8, 1909, in Hortonville, Ind., to William and Flora (Ressler) Hinshaw.  

She married Horace Kirkman in Westfield in 1930, and he preceded her in death Feb. 22, 1984.  

Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Jack Whitlock of Carbondale; son and daughter-in-law, William and Sylvia Kirkman of Westfield; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and three nieces.
