Born Jan 30 19221,4,5,6,7 [Jan 30 19208,9], Spiceland, Henry County, Indiana1,4,5,6,7.  

On Sep 17 1942 Marlin R. Hinshaw, born 1922 in Indiana, enlisted at Fort Benjamin Harrison, Indiana as a private in the U.S. Army Air Corps.  He declared he had four years of high school, and was single, without dependents.  He was recorded as 68" tall, 128 lbs.10  

He married Maggie Ann Pitchford1 [Ann Pitchford7], Apr 20 19461, Lawton, Oklahoma1.  Maggie, daughter of Ansley Clay Pitchford & Sibyl Nadene Smith, was born Mar 14 1927, Ardmore, Carter County, Oklahoma.1  

Marlin graduated with an Electrical Engineering degree from Purdue University in 1950.  He spent 24 years with General Dynamics Aerospace Industries in Fort Worth, Texas.  He was with Mid-Continent-Kiii, an oil-related industry in Fort Worth.1  He was also a retired U.S. Air Force colonel - he took the test for full colonel just before he retired and passed all of the physical tests and kept up with men in their forties when he was 20 years their senior.11  

Marlin Robert Hinshaw died May 3 2007, age 85.7  

Marlin's obituary was published in the "Star-Telegram" (Dallas/Ft. Worth, Texas) on May 11 2007:7

Marlin Robert Hinshaw, 85, a loving husband, father, grandpa and friend, passed from this life Thursday, May 3, 2007.  

Memorial service: 10 a.m. Monday, May 14, in Biggers Funeral Chapel.  Private committal: Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery.  

Memorials: John Knox Presbyterian Church, the Friends Church in Spiceland, Ind., or a charity of choice.  

Marlin was born Jan. 30, 1922, to Ada Jarrett and Floyd Hinshaw in Spiceland, Ind.  He attended Spiceland schools and graduated from high school in 1940.  In 1941, he enlisted in the Army Air Corps and served his country in India and China until the end of World War II.  While awaiting discharge, he was stationed in Oklahoma, where he met the love of his life, Ann Pitchford.  He and Ann were married April 20, 1946, and they moved to Indiana where they attended Purdue University.  Marlin graduated from Purdue in 1950 with a degree in electrical engineering and was immediately employed by Consolidated Vultee (Convair/General Dynamics), where he worked for 25 years.  In 1975, he went to work in the engineering department of Mid-Continent Supply Co., a division of Kendavis Industries, until his retirement in 1986.  

Marlin loved his home and the Lakeside community.  During his 50 years of residence, he served on the Planning and Zoning Commission, worked with and supported the local Boy Scout troop and served as president of the Castleberry High School Band Boosters.  Marlin was an avid gardener and maintained a handsome yard.  He received the "Beautiful Lawn of the Month" award frequently.  

Marlin's gentle integrity was an example to all.  He placed his love of family and friends above all else, and his steadfast spirit will be missed by all who knew him.  

Survivors: Devoted wife of 61 years, Ann Pitchford Hinshaw; sons, David R. Hinshaw and wife, Roxane, and 1077 Steven E. Hinshaw> and wife, Gayle; granddaughter, Megan Elizabeth Hinshaw of Fort Worth; sister, Juanita Reece of Spiceland, Ind.; mother-in-law, Sibyl Parkhurst of California; sister-in-law, Peggy Thomas of California; a number of nieces and nephews; and many, many friends whose lives he touched.
